Welcome back to #TeaTime!
Today, I want to talk about the importance of goal setting in your life. Goals are your stepping stones to achieving your dreams; they create a path of actionable steps to carry you through the chaotic disorder of responsibilities and distractions that can prevent you from reaching that dreams faster. Are you setting goals in your everyday life?
They don’t have to be big goals. Start small– maybe you’re trying to get through a project (whether it be writing a book, a school assignment, or starting a business venture).
BIG TIP:
My #1 must have item to navigate every single day of my life is a checklist (though I typically like to keep three going at a time). My lists keep me on task, and allow me to keep track of all the steps I need to take to achieve a larger task. I’ll set a monthly end goal, a weekly end goal, and a daily end goal, then write my lists of actionable steps to complete my goals. By setting smaller goals and breaking up the steps I need to take, it makes a larger goal seems far less daunting and so much easier to complete!
I recently launched an online course over on Paperback Kingdom, which helps authors create a social media strategy to improve their online presence and sell more books. The entire process of creating a strategy revolves around three lots of goal setting:
- Engagement Goals
- Growth Goals
- Sales Goals
These goals are then revised every month and week, and are the foundation that keeps each author on track with their strategy. This is the strategy that I use and share with authors, but different strategies work for different people.
Regardless, it really is so important to get into the habit of setting goals, and with 2018 fast approaching, now is a great time to set some new year’s resolutions and get into the habit of doing it!
Let me know in the comments below, how do you stay on track with your goals?
