Today I’m interviewing one of my book characters— and no, it’s not weird, because us writers spend all day having conversations with our characters in our heads. I just thought it would be fun to share one of those conversations with you guys!
(seriously though, don’t send me to the loony bin)
Hi Ryan! Let’s start with something easy for those who haven’t met you before— tell us something about yourself!
Hey! Well, I’m a 17-year-old aspiring musician. But I also enjoy video games, and playing a prank or two. 😉
Music, huh? Do you have a favourite song or artist?
Right now, I’ve been really into Ed Sheeran. My favorite song of his is Perfect. A lot of my music tastes are a little dated, so he’s a step forward for me.
Do you have any pets?
No, actually! We were going to get a dog when I was younger, but that never happened. I think Mom was worried that a dog would get messy— she’s pretty meticulous about the house staying clean.
Your grandparents are Spanish— tell us about that.
Yeah… I mean, there’s not much to tell. When I was 7, my parents took me over to meet them, and they’ve come to visit a lot as well. But I only speak to them occasionally, and I’m not great at Spanish either…
But you’ve been to Spain then, huh? Are there other places you’d like to travel?
Sure! I’d love to visit Canada and New Zealand— I really love places where I can hike and explore and be in nature. I wouldn’t mind visiting India, either, for something different.
So Aubany is obviously the coffee queen in your relationship— what’s your special skill in the kitchen?
You mean, apart from not burning the house down? I can pour cereal pretty fantastically, if I do say so myself. (BTW— Reese’s Puff are my favorite)
Describe your dream house.
Uh, well… I haven’t thought much about it, because I’m thinking about college and possibly touring for my music. But if I had to settle down, I think I’d love a sleek, modern house. With a recording studio!
SOVWRR is all about facing your fears, and we get to know quite a bit of Aubany’s fears. But something that isn’t really explored is your fear. What are you afraid of, Ryan?
I’m afraid of not achieving my dreams. They mean a lot to me.
That’s it! If you enjoyed this character interview, subscribe to my blog because I’ll be doing more. And if you liked Ryan as a character, consider adding SOVWRR to your Goodreads bookshelf.
